Use of VDE Spanners
The spanner is a hand-held tool used to provide grip and tighten or loosen fasteners. From home repair jobs to assembling furniture or any kind of DIY project, the combination spanner can assist in a wide variety of applications. This useful tool is a must-have in every household and workshop.
The profile of the head (size and shape) fits over, around or into the fastener. When the head is turned, friction (a force that slows down two objects moving past one another) between the profile and the fastener at the contact points causes the spanner to mechanically grip the fastener, providing torque (a turning force) to turn it.
Grab the handle and turn on same plane as nut to turn the nut. To turn the tool, the shaft needs to be turned on the same plane as the fastener. The user does this by gripping the shaft and pulling or pushing it.
Spanners use a lever system to increase the amount of work that can be done. The shaft acts as a lever, magnifying the force input by the user in order to turn the fastener easily.
An insulated adjustable spanner is characterized by its heavy-duty construction, facilitated by injection moulding of robust Nylon 11 materials. Designed to be versatile, it features jaw openings that span from 0.69 to 1.56 inches. In addition to this, the spanner undergoes a heat treatment involving alloy steel to ensure enhanced strength and lightweight for better user engagement. The presence of a tension spring ensures the tools stable operation, while an adjustable knurl caters to a multitude of applications.
Different Types of Spanner Wrenches
Adjustable Spanners
One of the most versatile types of spanners is the adjustable spanner, also known as a crescent wrench. This type features a jaw that can be adjusted to fit different fastener sizes, making it a convenient all-in-one solution for various tasks. The adjustable nature of this tool eliminates the need for multiple spanners, adding flexibility to any toolbox.
Fixed Spanners

Process of Spanners
First, a steel bar is sent into a die cutting machine which cuts the bars to a certain length. The bar lengths are then called billets.
After the billets are cut to size, a machine then feeds each billet into an induction heater in order to heat the metal and allow it to be forged into a certain shape. Once the billets are heated to a certain temperature, the dies then forge the heated metal into the shape of a wrench.
Once the wrench is forged into shape, another die machine trims the excess metal. The wrenches eventually flow down a conveyor belt and start to cool off. They're then dumped into a pick-up box.
After the wrenches are picked up, a factory worker begins to grind off the trim lines to give the wrenches a smooth finish. Then, the wrench is inserted into a bend machine to give the box end of a wrench a 15 degree angle.
A vertical milling machine then drills a hole into the box end. A broach tool is also used to help give the wrench hole a hexagonal shape. Other wrenches go through similar methods as well. After that, the wrenches undergo a heat treatment to harden and strengthen the metal. The wrenches are then placed onto another conveyor and polished for eight hours with ceramic stones. Finally, the wrenches are inserted into a nickel solution and submerged in the liquid to protect the metal from corrosion.
Once that is finished, the wrenches are washed and polished for another eight hours until they are shining. Then, they're ready to be shipped out.
